National Program Office

All Kids Count projects are supported by a National Program Office (NPO) located at The Task Force for Child Survival and Development, affiliated with Emory University and The Carter Center. The NPO also serves as a comprehensive resource for immunization registry efforts nationwide.

The All Kids Count Program supports the goal of a national network of state-and community-based immunization registries. It envisions a network of registries that communicate with each other to ensure that a child's immunization needs can be accurately assessed anywhere in the United States and that proper vaccines are given as recommended by the childhood immunization schedule. To achieve this goal, the NPO supports public, private and non-profit sectors working together to develop immunization registries and the policies to sustain them.

The National Program Office:

• Promotes the development of immunization registries in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
• Supports and monitors the progress of All Kids Count projects to ensure their full implementation by the end of 1999.
• Builds partnerships with managed care organizations, the American  Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and others to support registries in the private sector and foster linkage with state and local public systems.
• Works with partners to develop mechanisms to ensure registry sustainability.
• Communicates progress and lessons learned.
• Builds networks between registry projects and supporting partners.
• Promotes immunization-friendly legislation at the state and local level where needed.
• Collaborates with the National Immunization Program (NIP)  of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, managed care organizations and projects to promote and support research on registries.
