About Connections Communities of Practice
Connections is where public health meets, exchanges ideas, and solves public health problems.
Public health practitioners collectively have a wealth of knowledge based on experience. Connections was developed by the Center for Innovation in Health Information Systems to assist public health practitioners in sharing that knowledge with their peers, accelerating solutions to everyday and extraordinary problems. Connections links public health practitioners across the country, enabling them to share insights, seek help from experts, find answers together and develop innovative approaches.
Connections members participate in communities of practice, which bring together individuals with similar expertise and shared passion to solve specific public health problems. Communities of practice cultivate knowledge development and sharing through building social relationships among members, a sense of community and a supportive environment.
Meetings, workshops and site visits provide Connections members with the opportunities for face-to-face interaction that enables true knowledge creation and sharing. Technology supports collaboration and learning. Through www.Connectionszone.org, a virtual "meeting place," Connections members have access to synchronous and asynchronous communication tools.
